Under the Marriage Prevention Act 1929, the minimum age of boys and girls in Bangladesh is 21 and 18 years respectively. If the boy or girl is less than the age fixed by the age of law, then the marriage is considered as child marriage. Whatever the case happens to the boy or girl, child marriage is a clear violation of human rights. It deprives the right of when and where to marry the children. In the Universal Human Rights Charter 1984, in the case of marriage, voluntarily acknowledging the right to complete consent, it has been said, 'Must have to be mentally mature to make a decision'.
The Honorable Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, has pledged her commitment to build a child marriage free marriage between Bangladesh and Bangladesh in the year 2014. According to UNICEF statistics, the marriage rate of girls below 18 years of age in Bangladesh was 74% and 66% respectively in 2006 and 2011. One of the countries which is the world's largest child marriage. According to the organization's data, currently the rate of child marriage at 52% in Bangladesh (2014-2015), which is much lower than before. Bangladesh's position in the high rate of child marriage has dropped to 8 May 2015. Child marriage rate in 2006 (where below 18) was 74%, it currently stands at 52%. Currently there are 1 child marriage in two weddings.
After the formation of the Governance Innovation Unit (GUI) in 2012, innovation has been working to prevent child marriage rates.
