During this time, land-related disputes, peasant revolutions of the southern region, Kaliganga of Pirojpur, Kachan, Baleshwar etc., the rise of Magh pirates, especially in those rivers, increased criminal criminal offenses including theft, robbery, looting etc. As a result, the need for setting up a Pirojpur subdivision for the purpose of generating convenient sections of the general administration and land administration and for the execution of prosecution of criminal and civil dispute was felt. Bakerganj District Magistrate HAR Alexander proposed to set up a sub-division in Pirojpur on 24 April 1856.

Pirojpur subdivision was established on 28 October 1859. At that time the present Bagerhat district (Moralganj, Kachua) was in the Pirojpur subdivision. In 1863, Bagerhat became a subdivision under Jessore district. Later, different districts of Kathalia (Jhalakathi), Bamna (Barguna), Patharghata (Barguna), Banaripara (Barisal) areas were separated from these districts. With the establishment of the Pirojpur sub-division, transfer of the Munshifi court from Kagali to Pirojpur headquarters was transferred from Parrahat port to the administrative facility. It is necessary to mention here that in 1790, the Governor General Cornwallis converted the local administration system through the reform of Indian rule. In the meantime, 10 police stations were established in Bakerganj. Among them, Togra thana of Parerhat near Pirojpur, Kevari thana (present day Nesarabad or Swarupkathi and Banaripara) and Kawkhali thana are one of the main. Later, an Excellent Office and Sub-Registrar Office was established in Kawkhali. After the establishment of the subdivision, the administration work on a deputy magistrate and deputy collector and the responsibility of civil justice is conferred on Munsef. After 4 years of establishing Pirojpur sub-division, after the completion of Bengal Revenue and Topographical Survey in 1863, Bagerhat was elevated to the rank of subdivision with the dedication of Kachua and Morelganj from Pirojpur subdivision. Then the size of Pirojpur area is set to be 729 square miles. Pirojpur Sub-Registrar Office on 1 April 1865, Pirojpur Charitable Treatment in 1865, Pirojpur Municipality in 1865, Local Board in 1887, Minor School established in 1865, converted to High English School in 1882, and in 1893 Urban English Girls High School was established for women education.

 

Pirojpur subdivision was converted into a district on 28 October 1859. Pirojpur Municipality was established in 1885. There is a formula named Pirojpur. Helaluddin Mughal, a Shakhari in Nazirpur upazila, claimed himself as the last descendant of the Mughal dynasty. According to him, Subedar Shah of Bengal was defeated by Shuja Aurangzeb's commander, Mir Jumla, who came to the southern part of Bengal and at one point in the absence of hiding, he stayed for a while after creating a fort near the Sugandha river in Nalchiti upazila. Mir Jumla's army also attacked here and Shah Shuja fled to Arakan with his two daughters. There he was killed in the plot of another king. While fleeing, his wife lives with a child son. Later, they changed the position and gradually came to the west and made the Astana in front of the neighboring Damodar river near present Pirojpur.
